CORINNA
GOSMARO
Nesting
2022 and 2023
Mixed media on polyester filter
111 x 121 cm each

Nesting (2022) and Nesting (2023) are two works made of polyester filters overlaid and painted with oil and spray paint and graphite.
The title refers to the Italian term “annidamento” and is a reflection on how human beings are organized by a complex and inextricable intertwining of perception, memory, emotions and environment.
Against human exceptionalism, Corinna Gosmaro focuses on the enduring and universal characteristics of human perception and beliefs. Highlighting how the limits of our understanding stem from the challenge of overcoming our ingrained cognitive frameworks, it becomes evident how the mental paradigms we live in shape our perceptions in ways that do not accurately reflect reality.

Corinna Gosmaro was born in Savigliano in 1987. She lives and works in Paris.
She has exhibited in many institutional spaces including Fondazione Memmo in Rome, the American Academy in Rome, Fondation Fiminco in Paris, GAMeC in Bergamo, Fondazione Pastificio Cerere in Rome, Schafhof-Europäisches Kunstforum Oberbayern in Freising, Museo Nazionale della Montagna in Turin, and Museo Michetti in Francavilla a Mare.
She has participated in several residency programs, including POUSH in Paris (2023), Fonderia Artistica Battaglia in Milan (2022), Fondation Fiminco in Romainville (2022), and Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris (2018 and 2020).
She was awarded the 6 Artista Prize in 2017, the Talent Prize in 2018, and the Italian Fellowship for Visual Art at the American Academy in Rome in 2020.
