– Notes on taking care

What does taking care mean today? Of oneself,of the other from oneself, of things, of art?
«To Care», «To Cure», listening to needs, allowing time. It is an emotional work, a re-generative action of physical and symbolic bodies.

ALA Art Prize 2024 is intended as a moment of reflection to explore the phenomenology of care through visual languages. Annotations on things to do or to remember to take care as a medium for critical analysis, as a multidimensional move, a daily action capable of weaving together the plots of individual lives and the interconnected networks of global society.

CLOUDY CARE

2024
PU and PVC, industry marker, ropes, hand sewing, phone
various measures/site specific

The Cloudy Care project is an interactive art installation designed to provide emotional connection and a sense of comfort to visitors.
At the heart of the work are three traditional telephones fitted on wall shelves, allowing participants to pick up the phone and listen to positive and encouraging messages, recorded and activated by a hidden audio system.
This experience involves both visitors and ALA staff members, fostering moments of authentic human sharing.

The voices used are those of the employees, invited by the artist to take part in the project’s production.

Visually, the installation represents two human figures made of a cloud-like material, which create an effect of softness and three-dimensionality. The figures, wrapped up in an embrace, convey a deep sense of intimacy and connection, integrating with the surrounding clouds.

Cloudy Care offers meaningful breaks for the ALA staff, promoting a work environment based on mutual care and empathy. The “healing calls” are not just symbolic gestures, but an opportunity to build an organizational culture that puts everyone’s well-being first. Each message of love and support becomes a precious moment to reconnect with values of community and solidarity, transcending the merely artistic aspect and touching the heart of human experience.
